Privacy Policy — Price Snap

Last updated: 2026-01-22

Price Snap ("the App") helps you estimate product prices using AI. We respect your privacy and keep data collection to a minimum.

Data We Collect

  • Photos you upload: Sent to our backend only to generate an estimate. We do not use photos to build user profiles.
  • Device identifier: A random, hashed device ID stored on your device to manage free usage and subscriptions. It is not linked to your real identity.
  • Advertising identifier (IDFA): With your consent via App Tracking Transparency (ATT), we may collect your device's advertising identifier to measure ad effectiveness and deliver personalized ads. You can opt out at any time in your device settings.
  • Localization info: Country, language and currency to localize results.
  • Purchase information: Subscription status (active, plan type, expiry) stored locally on your device. App Store receipts are processed by Apple.
  • History (optional): If you choose to save results locally, we store estimates and the photo file in your device storage.

How We Use Data

  • Generate AI price estimates and show relevant currency/locale.
  • Enforce daily free usage limits for non‑subscribed users.
  • Provide premium access and restore purchases.
  • Improve reliability and detect abuse (rate limiting).
  • Measure advertising effectiveness and optimize ad campaigns (with your consent).
  • Deliver personalized advertisements (with your consent).

Data Sharing

  • We do not sell your data.
  • Photos and request data are sent to our server to call AI models and optional web search.
  • Service providers:
    • OpenAI: We use OpenAI to perform AI inference and web search on our behalf. OpenAI acts as a processor/sub‑processor. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
    • Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized app usage data (e.g., screen views, feature usage) to improve app performance and user experience. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
    • Meta (Facebook): With your consent, we share your device's advertising identifier with Meta to measure ad effectiveness, optimize ad campaigns, and deliver personalized ads. See Meta Privacy Policy.

Third‑Party Content and Sources

  • The App may access and use publicly available third‑party information (open sources) via OpenAI’s web search tools solely to generate price estimates.
  • We do not reproduce or permanently store third‑party content; results are transformed summaries or aggregated price ranges derived from public sources.
  • Where available, we may include brief source attributions (e.g., domain names) to increase transparency.
  • If you are a rights holder and would like any referenced public content to be excluded, contact us at appthego@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.

Data Retention

  • Photos: Not stored server‑side beyond processing unless required for short‑term processing logs.
  • Local History: Stays only on your device until you delete from the History page or uninstall the app.
  • Device token/JWT (if issued by the server): Stored on device secure storage and can be cleared from the app.

Your Choices

  • Do not save to History if you prefer not to keep images locally.
  • You may delete all saved results from the History page.
  • You may uninstall the app to remove local data.
  • Advertising Tracking: You can control whether we collect your advertising identifier by responding to the App Tracking Transparency prompt when you first use the app. You can change this setting at any time in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Security

  • HTTPS is used for all communication.
  • Images can be optimized on‑device before upload and EXIF is stripped.
